A Greed To Succeed

Illegal Election 2008 was just held a few short days ago. I say illegal as Prime Minister broke his own new law
and prematurely called yet another election. I bet a lot of homeless people would have appreciated a contribution
of any amount, in lieu of the massive costs of elections. Unfortunately Stephene Dion Leader of the opposition
party, was perceived as a weak man.If a thick accent is weakness, then many strong leaders have been weak.
The bait was out and the trap set. The Conservative Party who is already ( in my mind) suing the Liberals unjustly,
took pieces of Mr. Dion's conversations, and with massive amounts of finance, used his own words in a very nasty
ad against him. From the beginning when the puffin did his business while flying over Dion, it was very clear
that Conservatives had every intention of fighting dirty. Okay we had many who were not familiar with Dion aside from the distasteful ads, unfortunately being the only way many become somewhat informed. Elections are not for play children, and do they really have to attack one another? I do not want an attacking Leader, but one who stands up for what is right.
I heard that Mr, Dion did not follow advisers and did not give up the Green Shift idea, also that he is stubborn.
Stubbornness can work for you, not always against you. I feel that the party has been divided ever since Dion won the position. Was it jealousy? Or was everyone on deck to work with the leader? I saw no evidence to assist Dion.
Now that results of the election went below what would have been permitted, and the very next day he was asked to step down. Press was hounding outside their door, and Liberals calling or emailing suggesting he leave now, or be humiliated in May under review. It seems that the division in the Liberal caucus has had internal battled and now immediately want the job. I would not appreciate heavy weights coming down on me, especially after I gave my all. Minimally he deserved time to rest and become refocused, before the greedy gobblers were at his door. Would a week have been long to wait?
If the public could see respect on the inside of the opposition party, it may have given Dion the boost he needed.
How would he know who was trustworthy, and who wanted him to slip so his job would be on the line.
We need a green Shift, and perhaps Stephen will steal it, and label it differently.
After such a defeat, I expect some of the stubbornness is gone, making Dion much more pliable.
So many people within his own party will run for his position if he steps down. I call this the greed to personally succeed.
On the other end of things, if Dion did not step down, and was not forced humiliation in May to be reviewed.
I believe he has gained so much knowledge during this run that he has become wiser and chances are not as stubborn. The Liberals did not loose due to Dion. They lost through nasty attacks,

Dion Misconception

Sad Day

It is a sad day for the Liberals as Stephene Dion is being asked to resign. The world is expecting him to make an announcement on Monday.

http://www.ctv.ca/servlet/ArticleNews/story/CTVNews/20081017/dion_presser_081017/20081017?hub=TopStories

He was not supported in his desire to promote the Green Shift as many Liberals felt he should not bring it up
especially during the campaign. It was his desire for Canada to make us ready to trade with other countries that have better carbon regulations.
The Liberals and the press have been hounding Dion since the election, awaiting his resignation.

http://ca.news.yahoo.com/s/capress/081017/delection/liberal_leadership_dion_2

Can they not give the man time to recuperate from a very difficult campaign? What is the major rush?
The press is making Dion out to be some sort of a wimp but exhaustion, and disappointment that the country did not see his plan is bound to make him tired and weary. Even had Stephene won the election he would be tired.
Being sad does not equal weak. Society assumes those of us who need time to retreat are weak beings, but he needs to think things through with extreme logic. He is in the hole financially and the Liberal party cannot assist him at this time, yet they badger him to step down immediately. Sounds to me like some jealousy over the fact that he is the Liberal Leader.

Yes back into the race again, but personally I feel it a big loss to the Country.
It may be quite interesting to see just how soon Harper will need to impose a similar tax. Today Harper met with the President of France to discuss economics and trade

France has much better carbon control, so what will we need to adapt? It will be interesting to see just what Harper needs to do, in order to promote Canada to the world other than United States.
Firmly I believe that Dion acted from his conscience and heart,( not a good mix for politics) It was obvious in his eyes and expressions as to his deep love for Canada and all citizens.
If he needs to be replaced right away, I sincerely hope Frank McKenna will run for the position. McKenna had no desire once he left politics, but I hope he will take the chance. Mckenna is also known for honesty and integrity. How McKenna was elected in is beyond me as he is far to honest to compare to most politicians.
The saddest part of all of this is lies have prevailed and won for a time.

Dion Misconception

Initially I was unimpressed with our Liberal Leader, as I saw him as a weak man, and non fluent with the English
language. After speaking with my local candidate for upcoming election, I learned a great deal about Dion.
Sadly people often do not study prior to an election, and believe only what comes across the television screen,
while watching their favorite shows.
One thing Dion is not is a weak man. He is very spirited and full of enthusiasm. The Green Shift was a difficult sell, and sadly negative ads prepared in advance dominated our television screens, and computers, Everything will cost more with Dion. It was a believable contradiction, and it cost many votes to be cast to other parties.
Dion is aware Canada has great potential if we go green, and do it right. His proposal was the only that
offers cash back. It is inevitable we shall go green at some point, but as things stand no cash back.
How stupid are we? Have we gained financially with the Harper government? We pay more for everything. Humm
as he said we would with Dion. I fear we have seen nothing yet.
Most of us know that Conservative governments are not for the common folk, but supporters and rewarders of big business. How much money goes to the oil fields? How does this help the ordinary folk?
Alberta is favored because that is Harper's home, so give them much money!
During Leadership Debates, it was Dion that excelled as he showed wisdom and courtesy during both debates.
He was the one national party leader that felt Elizabeth May should be welcomed into the debates, while Layton and Harper strongly opposed.
Apparently we have not had enough of Harper, who stated that his crime bills will pass as opposition will not oppose as they will fear causing another election. Strong words for a Prime Minister in running. In other words it was his way or another election and it would be oppositions fault.
I became gravely disappointed with Jack Layton as he bashed the Liberals more than he seemed to bash the Con Leader. His struggle for power was at the expense of Dion. I realize this is politics, but why can we not have trustworthy people in politics? I expect I can answer my own question. Nice people appear weak, but people do not realize the amount of strength to remain nice, when people are being cruel.
I have found Dion to be professional, balanced, courteous, and do not be deceived. Strong. Dion and Madame Kreiber are very strong people who wear genuine care on their faces. Passion for our country and passion for it's people are very strong in this couple.
Today's news anticipated Dion to step down, " Liberal MP Joe Volpe: "... Mr. Dion should tell the party executive that he will not lead the Liberals into the next federal general election — the party should call a leadership convention at its earliest opportunity."

For those who perceive Dion as a weak man, a bit of education would clearly show the contrary. Dion, being an honest man was sold on telling Canadians about the Green shift plan, though he was advised not to.

"So it was a combination of factors that cost the Liberals so dearly: Mr. Dion was not connecting with voters and his Green Shift was unpopular.

“The Green Shift was a millstone around his neck,” the Dion adviser says.

In fact, he had been counselled in the spring by his senior advisers, including campaign manager Gordon Ashworth, not to use it as a major election piece.

Would we have preferred a leader who did not speak truth, hid his agenda and then immediately after election imposed the carbon tax? Personally I much prefer honesty.
I do not believe Dion had enough support from Volte, or Deputy Leader Michael Ignatieff,. Had they joined forces with him in an obvious way, we may have seen a different outcome. I feel they left the man struggling alone, but Chrietien supported him. Enclosed video widely circulated did not help Mr.Dion

Yes he has a major French accent, but his English has improved immensely. It was exciting to watch his English improve and I found him very understandable during debates and following. he worked hard and with his heart.
There is nothing weak about Stephene Dion, if anything his strength was his defeat. He apparently was supposed to be a dishonest politician. I strongly admire the man for taking the gamble with telling Canada what his plans were. Amazingly all in debates aside from Harper have a green plan, with working together if Canadians had not listened to lies, we would be in the beginning of a major and productive Canada.
Now we shall focus on building more jails. when jail is obviously not an answer. Jails do not make honest people, but hardened criminals. Put the offenders in a work farm and make them work, not as in a chain gang, be more humane, but work would be the best solution, as most offenders would reconsider if they had to work real physical labor.
Definitely Dion is not weak, and is very fluent in English. he is a great leader, though honesty and integrity obviously do not mix with politics.
