Initially I was unimpressed with our Liberal Leader, as I saw him as a weak man, and non fluent with the English
language. After speaking with my local candidate for upcoming election, I learned a great deal about Dion.
Sadly people often do not study prior to an election, and believe only what comes across the television screen,
while watching their favorite shows.
One thing Dion is not is a weak man. He is very spirited and full of enthusiasm. The Green Shift was a difficult sell, and sadly negative ads prepared in advance dominated our television screens, and computers, Everything will cost more with Dion. It was a believable contradiction, and it cost many votes to be cast to other parties.
Dion is aware Canada has great potential if we go green, and do it right. His proposal was the only that
offers cash back. It is inevitable we shall go green at some point, but as things stand no cash back.
How stupid are we? Have we gained financially with the Harper government? We pay more for everything. Humm
as he said we would with Dion. I fear we have seen nothing yet.
Most of us know that Conservative governments are not for the common folk, but supporters and rewarders of big business. How much money goes to the oil fields? How does this help the ordinary folk?
Alberta is favored because that is Harper's home, so give them much money!
During Leadership Debates, it was Dion that excelled as he showed wisdom and courtesy during both debates.
He was the one national party leader that felt Elizabeth May should be welcomed into the debates, while Layton and Harper strongly opposed.
Apparently we have not had enough of Harper, who stated that his crime bills will pass as opposition will not oppose as they will fear causing another election. Strong words for a Prime Minister in running. In other words it was his way or another election and it would be oppositions fault.
I became gravely disappointed with Jack Layton as he bashed the Liberals more than he seemed to bash the Con Leader. His struggle for power was at the expense of Dion. I realize this is politics, but why can we not have trustworthy people in politics? I expect I can answer my own question. Nice people appear weak, but people do not realize the amount of strength to remain nice, when people are being cruel.
I have found Dion to be professional, balanced, courteous, and do not be deceived. Strong. Dion and Madame Kreiber are very strong people who wear genuine care on their faces. Passion for our country and passion for it's people are very strong in this couple.
Today's news anticipated Dion to step down, " Liberal MP Joe Volpe: "... Mr. Dion should tell the party executive that he will not lead the Liberals into the next federal general election — the party should call a leadership convention at its earliest opportunity."

For those who perceive Dion as a weak man, a bit of education would clearly show the contrary. Dion, being an honest man was sold on telling Canadians about the Green shift plan, though he was advised not to.
"So it was a combination of factors that cost the Liberals so dearly: Mr. Dion was not connecting with voters and his Green Shift was unpopular.
“The Green Shift was a millstone around his neck,” the Dion adviser says.
In fact, he had been counselled in the spring by his senior advisers, including campaign manager Gordon Ashworth, not to use it as a major election piece.

Would we have preferred a leader who did not speak truth, hid his agenda and then immediately after election imposed the carbon tax? Personally I much prefer honesty.
I do not believe Dion had enough support from Volte, or Deputy Leader Michael Ignatieff,. Had they joined forces with him in an obvious way, we may have seen a different outcome. I feel they left the man struggling alone, but Chrietien supported him. Enclosed video widely circulated did not help Mr.Dion

Yes he has a major French accent, but his English has improved immensely. It was exciting to watch his English improve and I found him very understandable during debates and following. he worked hard and with his heart.
There is nothing weak about Stephene Dion, if anything his strength was his defeat. He apparently was supposed to be a dishonest politician. I strongly admire the man for taking the gamble with telling Canada what his plans were. Amazingly all in debates aside from Harper have a green plan, with working together if Canadians had not listened to lies, we would be in the beginning of a major and productive Canada.
Now we shall focus on building more jails. when jail is obviously not an answer. Jails do not make honest people, but hardened criminals. Put the offenders in a work farm and make them work, not as in a chain gang, be more humane, but work would be the best solution, as most offenders would reconsider if they had to work real physical labor.
Definitely Dion is not weak, and is very fluent in English. he is a great leader, though honesty and integrity obviously do not mix with politics.
